Homicide Attempt Caught On Camera In York, Police Say

One man has been hospitalized and another has been arrested following a stabbing in York on Monday, May 15, 2023, according to a police release the following afternoon.

Boyzle Maddox III, 28, of York, has been arrested after he was seen stabbing a man on surveillance footage from White Rose Bar and Grill at 48 N. Beaver Street, police say.

The unnamed victim walked into York Hospital Emergency Department with multiple stab wounds following the stabbing around 2:27 a.m., according to the release by city police the following morning.  

During the initial investigation, the police learned that the stabbing incident took place in the parking lot adjacent to the White Rose Bar and Grill and staff of the eatery found the footage of the stabbing to share with the police, who quickly identified Maddox III.

His vehicle  was found by the police in the 500 block of Smith Street and took him into custody around 3 a.m.

He was charged with criminal attempt homicide as well as aggravated assault - attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, and simple assault, according to court documents. 

He has been held in the York County Prison after being denied bail "in the interest of public safety" Magisterial District Judge Kevin J. Flaherty. 

Maddox has a criminal record dating back to 2013 for drugs, receiving stolen property, and trespassing, according to his previous court dockets. 

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Flaherty at 10 a.m. on May 19. 

"The victim was treated for his wounds at York Hospital and will survive," the police say.
